Bone Density at MFP
Mansfield Family Practice is pleased to announce the availability of our Bone Density (DXA) service. We operate a Hologic Discovery W bone density machine which is state-of-the-art. Our physicians have passed the Certification Exam of the International Society of Clinical Densitometry.
Bone Density examinations are important to identify and follow patients with Osteoporosis or Osteopenia. All women past menopause, men and women on chronic steroids or hormone treatments should have this examination.
Health Advice for Travel
If you are planning an international trip it is important to make an appointment to review health risks related to travel. This is particularly important if you plan to visit tropical or poorly-developed countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America. You may need medication or shots to prevent both common (diarrhea, hepatitis A) and unusual (malaria, typhoid, yellow fever) infections. Appointments should be made at least a month before travel - some shots may require multiple doses over a month or more. Please note that most medical insurance does NOT cover travel-related services; payment is expected at the time of the visit.
